This CGI Ads Project for La Roche-Posay by L'Oréal was a challenging project for CGI ads I had, because of the complications and limitations of computing itself, The project needed liquid Simulation, and also some liquid spreading animation.
The Concept itself was made by the conceptions team with the technical question given to me, the questions consisting of this concept possible on a given deadline, and we went ahead with the idea itself since it was challenging but possible to do.
It was fun to do this project, from shooting the footage, creating the 3D assets, simulations and animation, color grading, and finalizing the Final result.
Production Shooting
In this production section, we went to the place we wanted to shoot which is the James Simon Gallerie Berlin. This was a bit challenging due to the time limitation, and also the weather was not consistent, we need great lighting which we can only get from the sun, it was windy and cloudy all the time, so we had to wait a couple of of of of of time until we got a great footage to use for the CGI ads.
BEFORE FINAL
WORKING ON BLENDER
In this section, I was working on the 3D Model, I had to model the bottle, the challenge on this task was not the modeling itself, the challenge was the shading, since it is glass, and has a gradient color on it, it was a bit challenging to control with the computing limitation, but it worked all fine.
A further step was that to track the footage, I was using AE to Blend Plugins, to grab the tracking data from After Effects and bring it to Blender, and with that data, I could model the environment, to catch the shadow that was cast by the 3D model, for realistic effects.
After rendering out all the data, I put everything together in After Effects, to control the footage well, I rendered everything separately, the 3D object animation and also the shadow that was cast from it, these become 2 different kinds of PNG sequences which can be put together in after effects, not only to bring them together, I also did color grading with after effects, editing the influencer footage in, animate the camera motion and rendering it out again.
final Footage
In the final, we came out with 2 assets and sent them to the clients, so they could choose how to use this footage, and the footage itself is out there online on Instagram, i felt satisfied with this project since we got great feedback from the client. It means it was working well, thanks to the conception team, the production team, and the project manager.
